What is Friday Night Lights⁉️

Friday Night Lights is how we, as a functional fitness facility, participate in the Cr0ssF!t Open.

So, what is the Open anyways?

As many of you know, we are a functional fitness gym, and we utilize Mayhem's programming for our Momentum track. We then modify that programming to create our Longevity track.

The term "Cr0ssF!t" refers to both a style of functional fitness training (what we do at TM), as well as a "sport". When we look at Cr0ssF!t as a sport, there are several ways to compete, including an annual athletic competition called the Cr0ssF!t Games, which is like the Super Bowl of our sport.

The Cr0ssF!t Open is one way that individuals can qualify for the Cr0ssF!t Games.

You might be thinking, well I'm not going to the Cr0ssF!t Games and I don't plan to compete, so why should I participate in Friday Night Lights?

Here's why we like to do FNL at TM: ⤵️

1️⃣ It's a great opportunity for our community to come together, cheer each other on, and engage with other members that may attend different class times.

2️⃣ It could potentially add some additional meaning and purpose to your training, motivating you to work toward new achievements & goals.

3️⃣ The excitement and energy of the Open often pushes people to try and achieve new "firsts" such as muscle-ups, toes to bar, double-unders, etc.

4️⃣Most importantly, it's to have fun!

If you want more information about the Cr0ssF!t Open or if you're interested in signing up, check out this article. 👈

How does FNL work⁉️

🟣 Instead of completing the Open workout during class time, members can sign up for a Heat time during Friday Night Lights. They will be responsible for warming up on their own (coaches will be there if you have questions), and then they will do the Open workout during their Heat. This just creates a more "competitive" style workout experience. Whether you do "longevity", "momentum", or somewhere in between, you can still participate in FNL!

🟣 There will be no 4:15/4:30 or 5:30pm class on Fridays during the Open (2/28, 3/7, 3/14). All other class times on Fridays will run as usual and will be the Open workout.

🟣 After the announcement of the workout on Thursday, heat times will be put into Push Press. The heat times will start at 5:30 pm on Friday and times will follow based on the length of the workout.

🟣 PLEASE sign up for a heat time using Push Press!!! We base the # of open spots per heat based on what is all involved in the workout. You will sign up for a heat time the same way you register for class.

🟣 You do not have to (officially) sign up for the Open to participate in FNL. The reason people sign up is generally just to track their progress from previous years, to compare themselves to other peers in their age range, or with the goal of competing. However, this is not necessary at all! You can just come participate in FNL for fun!

🟣 There will be a Longevity version of the Open workout, just like there is for any other class, so anyone and everyone is able to participate!

🟣Feel free to bring some beverages and/or snacks and hang out while cheering everyone on! You are welcome and encouraged to come watch and hang out even if you don't do the workout.

🟣 Anyone is welcome to join in FNL (members and non-members)! They can come to participate or just to watch. They do not have to be a member of TM!

If you are feeling a little nervous about participating in FNL, just come down to watch and see what it's all about! 🥳
